Come join us on the Sach Pass Motorcycle Tour. Sach Pass is (4420 M – 14498 FT) high mountain pass in Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh in India. It connects the Chamba Valley with the Pangi Valleys of Himachal Pradesh. The pass is open from June or early July to mid-October. The road is narrow and un-metalled. Pangi- the snow-bound valley- is located in the Mid Himalayan region. It remains cut off for more than six months in a year. Heavy snowfall and a semi-arctic climate make living very tough here. Recently, Killar the Headquarters of Pangi has been linked with a jeep-able road which, however, remains in use for merely two months in a year due to adverse weather conditions. It is a place where myth is history and mystery is reality. Embarking on this journey is truly the experience worth it- the route is challenging and the landscape breathtaking.
Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive in DELHI
We will meet you at Delhi Airport and transfer you to your Hotel.
Day 2
DELHI – MANALI. (2050 M / 6765 FT)
Post breakfast half-day city tour. Evening transfer to the bus station to board the overnight bus to Manali. It will be a 12 hours journey by comfortable Volvo semi sleeper bus.
Day 3
AT MANALI. (2050 M / 6765 FT)
Arrive at Manali in the morning. Post breakfast we’ll hold a briefing to cover safety precautions, touring style, road conditions, and check of personal equipment, with time to select our bikes and become familiar with starting procedures, control layouts, and bike handling. We will have a trial riding day exploring nearby places of Manali visiting Naggar Castle and the museum of Russian painter Nikolai Roerich. Since the beginning of time, Kullu Valley has been known as ‘The Valley of the Gods’. We enjoy one of the most spectacular days of motorcycle touring anywhere in the world today as we run the cliff-hanging highway along almost vertical walls of the jungle and cascading waterfalls of the Beas River Valley.
Day 4
MANALI – ATAL TUNNEL – KEYLONG. (3080 M / 10102 FT) (70 KMS)
Think of the Alps and let your imagination expand and go wild, this is Solang Valley! After breakfast, we start to climb right outside of town, up the most beautiful alpine road on earth. We ride to Keylong via Atal Tunnel (9 Kms) The World highest situated tunnel 3050 M / 10000 Ft. It is certainly one of the most spectacular. We will cross the tunnel and ride into the Lahaul Valley to meet the Chandra River and continue further to Keylong, headquarters of the Lahaul District. At Tandi we will view the confluence of Chandra – Bhaga River. After Crossing the Atal Tunnel we’ve entered a whole new world; Tibetan Buddhist monasteries hang off precipices.
Day 5
KEYLONG – KHANJAR VIA TRILOKNATH, (2904 M / 9525 FT) (80 Kms ).
Post Breakfast we ride to Khanjar en-route visiting the Ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Trilokinath worshipped by both Hindus and Buddhist. The road is a metalled and un-metalled both. The villages along the way are charming and you can see the locals working in their fields. 10kms before Udaipur, a road on your right takes you to Triloknath. After entering Udaipur we take right after crossing a bridge and enter Miyar Valley. Kanjar is about 24kms from here. Some stretches of this route are just magnificent and you will be tempted to stop to take it all in. Khanjar, is on the north being the last and the start point to many interesting treks especially to Zanskar Valley and further to Ladakh.”.
Day 6
KHANJAR – KILLAR VIA UDAIPUR . (3080 M / 10102 FT) (120 KMS / 4 – 5 Hrs)
Post breakfast we will start our day riding to Killar in Pangi valley en-route visiting Mrikula Mata Temple. The road from Udaipur to Killar is un-metalled and very challenging, there are large stretches of bulldust, rocks and keeping the bike stable takes every effort. All along the road, there is a 100-150m drop and rocky overhangs. The landscape just keeps getting beautiful and beautiful. The distance is not much but the road condition doesn’t allow riding too fast.
Day 7
KILLAR – SACH PASS (4420 M – 14498 FT) – CHAMBA. (996 M / 3266 FT) (170 Kms / 6 – 7 Hrs)
Post Breakfast we start riding to Chamba on the other side of Sach Pass. The road to the pass is totally un-metalled and requires 100% concentration. We cross the bridge over Chenab River and start going uphill. This road is lined with the famous Wild Hazelnut trees of Pangi crossing quite a few streams some big some small. As terrain closer to Sach Pass is rocky. At the Pass, there is a small temple dedicated to ‘Jog Wali Mata’. The Valley opens up when we come around the Pass and we can have a view of the full landscape of Chamba valley.
Day 8
CHAMBA TO MCLEODGANJ. (2082 M / 6831 FT)(130 Kms / 4 – 5 Hrs).
Post breakfast we ride uphill to Mcleodganj which lies in the vicinity of His Holiness Dalai Lama en route visiting Khajjiar and Dalhousie.
Day 9
AT MCLEODGANJ
Post breakfast we will Visit the His Holiness Dalai Lama Temple and the market by foot and then a short ride uphill to visit the Tibetan Children’s Village and St. Johns Church.
Day 10
MCLEODGANJ – MANALI. (250 Kms / 6 – 7 Hrs).
Today is our last day of riding. Post breakfast we ride back to Manali.
Day 11
MANALI – DELHI.
Day free to explore the local market. Evening board the overnight Volvo Bus to Delhi.
Day 12
DELHI.
Arrive in Delhi in the morning and transfer to your Hotel. Half-day city tour of Delhi. Post-dinner transfer to the Airport to board the flight back home.
